When you think of Savoie, you think of cheese. Our delicious cheeses can be enjoyed as a main course or as an aperitif. You can visit farms and mountain pastures, cheese dairies, maturing cellars, etc.
The Thônes market on Saturday mornings is definitely worth a visit. In the heart of the Reblochon region you can find this gateway to the Aravis mountain range. Discover the area and come back with lots of great memories and good cheese of course!
 
Blueberry jam
These delicious berries are to be found along the forest paths of the Pays de Savoie and have become an essential feature in Savoyard gastronomy.
Blueberries are well known to be rich in antioxidants and can have many health benefits. Blueberries can be picked around mid-August. You can enjoy them in a multitude of ways including pancakes, tarts or ice cream.
 
Saucisson
Charcuterie and saucisson are of course a gastronomical favourite of this beautiful mountainous region. Either as an accompaniment to an aperitif or with another mountain favourite, the raclette these are a real delight. Give the walnut or beaufort saucisson a try, you won’t be disappointed!
In Doussard you will find the Mont Charvin salting shop or master craftsman Christian Favre, a passionate craftsman, he makes sausages, dried pork and beef, sausages, terrines and rillettes, cured saucisson, fresh pork and delicatessen products (ham, pâté, etc.).
 
Crozets
Crozets are a type of Savoyard pasta, cut into small squares. The word crozet literally means ‘small’. Crozets are eaten baked in the oven with cheese. Very typical of the region, instead of eating a tartiflette (another local speciality), you can swap the potatoes for crozets, and voilà, it’s a croziflette!
 
Beer, spirits or wine from Savoie
In the surrounding area there are excellent craft beer breweries. Go and unwind and taste the beers of Alchimie, a microbrewery in the heart of Faverges. They also have a small shop where you can buy not only beers but also terrines, saucisson and other local produce.

If you like liqueurs, we recommend Génépi which is made from a small aromatic plant of the same name that grows in the Alps between 1500 and 3000 meters above sea level. Traditionally it is drunk as a digestive after a meal but it can also be used in cocktails like Génépi Spritz.

The most prestigious Savoie wine and classified AOC (appellation d'origine contrôlée) is Chignin-Bergeron, a dry white wine.
Among the emblematic grape varieties, you can also find Jacquère, Altesse (or Roussette), and Mondeuse, a robust red wine.
